Speak up without fear
Papillon encourages employees, workers and contractors to report suspected wrongdoing at the earliest opportunity. No person will be dismissed, disadvantaged, threatened or victimised by Papillon for raising a concern they reasonably believe to be in the public interest, even if it is not substantiated after fair review.
Concerns covered
- A criminal offence, fraud, bribery or corruption.
- A breach of legal or professional obligation or a miscarriage of justice.
- Danger to health or safety, safeguarding failure or environmental damage.
- Serious data-security, confidentiality, quality or public-service risk.
- Deliberate concealment of any of these matters.
How to raise a concern
Raise the concern with Stephen Kent, Managing Director, at stevekent@papillontranslations.com using the subject ‘Whistleblowing – Confidential’. State the facts, dates, people involved, evidence and any immediate risk. Concerns may be made openly, confidentially or anonymously, although anonymity can limit investigation and feedback.
Where the concern involves the Managing Director, cannot safely be raised internally or has not been addressed, the worker may seek independent advice and report to an appropriate prescribed person, regulator, client safeguarding lead or law-enforcement body. Nothing in this policy prevents a protected disclosure.
Assessment and protection
Papillon will acknowledge, risk-assess, investigate or refer the concern proportionately, protect identity as far as lawful and practicable, and give feedback where confidentiality permits. Knowingly false allegations may be addressed under contractual or disciplinary procedures; an honest concern that proves mistaken is not misconduct.
